The names went on for thirty pages, or thereabouts. And so, at first, the book didn’t seem very special to Wiz. But then he turned ahead a few pages and found a long, garbled note in really weird handwriting. He read it through. He read it again. He tried to understand it, because something sounded familiar.

The cycle is nearly ended. The time has nearly come. One good shake and the money is gone. The tunnels below are cracked and crumbling and so soon we will be watching the underbellies float up into the town, eating the souls and cindering the homes of those strange boys . . .
